Codesmine Academy 過往比賽相集 Past events and activities Pages 1 2 Prepare a 2-year "iSTEM Zone" project for Po Leung Kuk Our team went to attend the opening ceremony of Po Leung Kuk iSTEM Zone. We are preparing a two-year STEM Project for Po Leung Kuk, sponsored by Po Leung Kuk and Rotary Club. The purpose is to provide STEM teaching to Po Leung Kuk schools, from kindergartens to elementary schools. This time we used VR and mechanical vehicles to design home safety and traffic safety education courses. The staff of the Po Leung Kuk Centre can take our courses to the school to teach students. In addition, we will also train a class of students so that they can learn how to write programs by themselves, and show their works to everyone after the completion of the iSTEM Zone Project. Was invited to the annual MakerClub Fair Open Day of the Productivity Council We set up a booth at the Productivity Council to introduce our STEM courses, which attracted many parents and children to try out, and some school teachers came to inquire about the STEM services of the school. The scene was very lively and very popular! 😄👍 A two-day STEM workshop held between China and Hong Kong with the New Home Association The Sino-Hong Kong Exchange STEM workshop held with the New Homeland Association for two consecutive days was just completed in January. Every child is very interested in STEM. Before this workshop, they did not know much about STEM courses or had little knowledge. After two days of experience and practice, children have mastered basic programming skills and can use their brains to make mini games. Their comprehension and creativity learned faster than we thought. Although it was only a short two-day experience class, six STEM courses have been introduced: mbot, micro:bit, VR & AR, AppInventor, Minecraft Education and TELLO EDU Programming the drone. I hope I will have the opportunity to cooperate with Xinjiayuan next time! HKTDC x Codesmine VR STEM Workshop This year I am honored to be invited by DesignInspire of HKTDC Hong Kong Trade Development Council to hold the [Virtual Reality VR STEM Workshop] at the Wan Chai Convention and Exhibition Center on December 8 and it has successfully concluded. Thank you parents and children for participating in me. Due to the limited number of places, some children were unable to participate. I apologize! Seeing the kids having fun, my colleagues in my local group are so inspired! On-campus courses , multiple teaching strategies The unique teaching method of our center uses multiple teaching strategies to design classroom activities in line with the learning styles of different students to enhance students' interest in learning and stimulate students to participate in classroom learning. Even primary school students can write virtual reality programs and animations. It used to require college students or years of computer experience to do it. Through our courses, even elementary school students can do it today. The first Minecraft x Codesmine creation contest Codesmine Academy held the first Hong Kong Minecraft contest before the end of the summer vacation. It was successfully concluded on August 26, 2018. The participating students were between 6 and 14 years old to learn logical thinking, creativity and programming skills to complete the contest. In this competition, students also used different creativity to build their own style of buildings according to the theme specified by the conference. There are also programming competitions. Participants need to program to control AI robots to complete designated tasks. Become Cospaces partners In the past year, VR courses have been introduced into schools and different institutions, so that students have the opportunity to experience and learn VR

  • About Us | Codesmine

About Us Our Company CodesMine Academy is a Social Enterprise established by a group of IT and education professionals with the aim to provide the best quality STEM and coding education to school children. We offer a wide range of STEM and coding education programs to children ranging from the 5 - 16 years old. Our STEM courses and technical learning workshops allows students to build a deep foundation for science and technology, with both theories and hands on experience, in which students cannot achieve in mainstream school programs. Our core program uses an immersion and mentoring approach in a more balanced student to teacher ratio. This allows our coaches to personalize and customize based on the students, making for a much more engaging experience. Our Mission At CodesMine Academy, it is our mission to extend these benefits to every child we meet. Teaching them the joy of breaking down computing puzzles one step at a time, or seeing their faces light up as they test out their newly created game is what we delight in doing. Our Tech/Coding classes and camps are all project-based, which means students are applying computational thinking to each coding skill they learn, and are using the highest level processing skills as identified by the Common Core for true comprehension of the material they are learning to use and apply. Our aim is to provide children with a set of skills that will prepare them for a successful future. We have a comprehensive curriculum designed to enhance digital literacy, develop interdisciplinary skills and stimulate different types of intelligence. Why STEM is important to children 12 Reasons Why Kids Should Learn to Code Coding is playing a more significant role in our everyday world and should be conceived as an essential language, more important or at least as important as English, that everyone needs to acquire to connect and communicate with the rest of the world. Coding Improves Academic Performance 1. Mathematics Coding helps kids visualize abstract concepts, lets them apply math to real-world situations, and makes math fun and creative. 2. Writing Kids who code understand the value of concision and planning, which results in better writing skills. 3. Creativity Kids learn through experimentation and strengthen their brains when they code, allowing them to embrace their creativity. 4. Problem Solving Kids learn to break down the complex problems into smaller parts with logical and computational thinking. 5. Confidence Kids can build the confidence as they learn to solve problems through coding. Coding Builds Soft Skills 6. Focus and Organization While writing codes and debugging, kids learn to focus and organize the tasks to solve problems. 7. Resilience With coding comes debugging – and there’s no better way to build perseverance and resilience than working through challenges. 8. Persistence Coding teaches the valuable skill of persistence to solve complex problems and look for solutions through research and collaboration. 9. Collaboration Kids can learn alongside others of every race, gender, or background. Kids meet and learn how to collaborate with all kinds of peers, all joined by a common interest in technology. 10. Communication Kids can improve logical communication, strengthening both verbal and written skills when coding. 11. Provides a competitive advantage when applying to school Learn coding provides the kid with additional skill set to apply schools. 12. Career Preparation There’s a high demand for workers in the tech industry. Learning to code will increase the child’s odds of securing a lucrative STEM career, especially in a world where computing jobs are growing at over twice the national average.
